Steve Bohannon, MD FACEP, Medical Director

Dr. Bohannon has been a resident of Volusia County for almost 30 years. He grew up in Texas, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University, and Medical Degree from the University of Texas at Houston. He moved to Port Orange in 1983, to complete a 3 year residency at Halifax Hospital. Upon his completion, he was offered a position at Halifax ER/Trauma Center, and worked as an Emergency Physician there for 30 years. As a staff physician there, he treated major medical and trauma patients. He was also the Medical Director of Emergency Medical Services for the Daytona International Speedway for over 10 years. He also staffs an emergency room in Maine, and has previously staffed ERs in a ski resort in Colorado, the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation in Montana, Sturgis South Dakota during Bike Week, and in Oklahoma and Kentucky.

“Dr. B” has a passion for travel as you might surmise, and enjoys mountain climbing and outdoor activities. He has climbed the highest peaks of Africa and South America. “It gets me out of the Florida heat.” He has 3 children, the youngest is an avid fisherman, and the two can often be found offshore. He also enjoys riding road bikes (bicycles) for fitness. He is actively involved in organized medicine, trying to halt the steady encroachment of government and insurance companies into the practice of medicine.

Dr. Bohannon is past President of the Volusia County Medical Society and a previous Delegate to the Florida Medical Association. He is also a certified medical examiner by the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.


Erin Maxwell Sloan, PA-C

Erin Maxwell Sloan, PA-C was born in Philadelphia and raised in Southern New Jersey. Erin completed her undergraduate studies at Philadelphia University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Science. Erin also majored in Biochemistry/Physician Assistant Studies and earned her degree as a Physician Assistant in 1999. Erin moved to Florida just outside the Daytona Beach area right after graduation, and worked in various emergency departments in the area since 1999. In February 2010, Erin opened the company’s flagship clinic in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Three years later, she opened Ormond Beach Urgent care in Ormond Beach, Florida.

Erin is board certified and holds an active Florida license. She is also a certified medical examiner through the Department of Transportation. When not taking care of patients, Erin enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and boating.

Tracy Ruth, MSN, FNP-C

Tracy is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She began her career in health care by working at Eckerd Pharmacy in Edgewater, FL when she was only 15 years old. Since that time Tracy has been providing health care services to residents and guests to Central Florida.

Tracy obtained three degrees from Daytona State College, which then was known as “DBCC.” One of those degrees started her nursing career in 2003, after graduating with an Associate of Science in Nursing with honors. Tracy returned back to school and completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Chamberlain College of Nursing (Downers Grove, IL) and her Masters of Science (Nursing/Nurse Practitioner) at Maryville University (St. Louis, MO), specializing in Family Practice (FNP). Tracy has continuously graduated at the top of her class. With her extensive nursing background, Tracy has direct experience in the following areas: Emergency services; women’s health; gynecology; oncology; pre/post anesthesia care; operating room, antepartum; labor and delivery; postpartum; pediatrics; and newborn nursery. She has also had the opportunity to provide community health services to “at risk” populations throughout Volusia County. She has also traveled on medical missions to Haiti.

In addition to her clinical experience, Tracy also holds certifications with American Heart Association-Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers and Neonatal Resuscitation Program. The National Institutes of Health-stroke certification. She is a current member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Tracy moved to Volusia County in 1983 and has not left because she enjoys the weather and proximity to the beach. Tracy also enjoys paddle boarding, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and two children. Fun Fact: Tracy and her husband eloped while they were both in nursing school and got married at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas!


Sue Martenson, Billing Manager

Sue hails from the great state of Illinois and serves as our company manager and billing director. She was born and raised in Belvidere, Illinois; however, it was the 18 years living in Wisconsin that converted her to avid Green Bay Packers fan. Sue found herself in Florida after her fiancé accepted a new career opportunity in Central Florida, and has been with New Smyrna Beach Urgent Care, LLC ever since. When we give her time off, which isn’t often, Sue enjoys spending time with her family, reading, spending time outdoors, and a little shopping here and there. Sue has over 13 years of medical billing and customer relations experience.

Barbara Day, Head Medical Assistant

Barb is the rare Central Floridian who was born in raised here. In fact, her father was the first paid fire chief of Longwood, FL, a police officer, and was a member of the Longwood City Council. This afforded Barb a lot of opportunities to help her community. After graduating from Lyman High School in Longwood, Barb pursued medical assistant studies at the Bryan Institute in Arlington, Texas. She then spent fourteen years as a hospital corpsman for the United States Naval Reserve with an active duty assignment during Desert Storm. Barb hold basic X-ray operator certifications from both Florida and Washington. She is also certified in neonatal resuscitation.

Aside from her extensive medical assistant and X-ray experience, Barb has also worked in surgery and post-operative, newborn nursery, training and administration, laboratory technician and phlebotomist, as well as a medical/surgical ward. Barb is also well traveled, calling the following places home at some point during her life: San Diego; Guantanamo, Cuba; Kingsville and Grand Prairie, Texas; Memphis, Tennessee; Palmdale, California; and Oak Harbor, Washington.

Barb and her husband have 7 children and 17 “energetic and fun” grandchildren. When she does have free time, Barb prefers to be outside at the beach or camping with family and friends. She also loves to travel when she’s able.

Tammie Ingham, Front Desk/Billing Assistant

Tammie was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and since moved to South Daytona, Florida to be near family. She is experienced in the medical field for over 20 years. She enjoys music, her grandchildren and the beach.
